In the world of luxury luggage, travel has increasingly evolved beyond simple movement — becoming a symbol of self-expression, discovery, and experience itself.
German luggage house RIMOWA, founded in 1898, has announced a Japan-exclusive collection celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pokémon.

The collection brings together RIMOWA and Pokémon through their shared themes of adventure and encounters along the journey. Born in two distinct cultural landscapes — Germany and Japan — the collaboration merges the design philosophies of both brands into a single capsule.
For decades, RIMOWA has continued to evolve luggage itself into a refined travel product through precision engineering and functional beauty. Pokémon, meanwhile, has introduced generations of fans to the ideas of exploration and discovery ever since the release of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green in 1996.

Particularly striking is the incorporation of RIMOWA’s latest Essential seasonal colors — Magenta and Orange. Pikachu is paired with RIMOWA’s signature silver suitcase, Charmander with vivid Orange, and Charizard with the more refined Magenta.

The result feels less like a conventional character collaboration and more like an attempt to connect Pokémon’s themes of evolution and journeying with RIMOWA’s language of travel design.
The collection includes three leather luggage charms, a sticker set, and a wheel set.
In today’s luxury market, personalization has become increasingly important — not only in what people carry, but in how they shape their own travel identity. RIMOWA has continued to strengthen this idea through services such as “RIMOWA UNIQUE,” and the wheel set perfectly reflects that direction.

Finished in a red-and-white colorway reminiscent of a Poké Ball, the wheel set also features RIMOWA’s monogram logo inspired by Cologne Cathedral, paying homage to the brand’s birthplace in Cologne, Germany.
It is a natural coexistence of Pokémon’s playfulness and RIMOWA’s craftsmanship.
The fact that this collection is exclusive to Japan is equally significant.
Since the 1970s, Japan has remained one of RIMOWA’s most important markets. By collaborating with one of Japan’s most iconic cultural creations at the moment of Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, the project also expresses a deep respect for Japanese culture itself.
By featuring Pokémon originally introduced in Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green, the collection evokes the feeling of “the beginning of a journey” through a nostalgic perspective.
Perhaps this is not merely a collection of limited-edition accessories, but a reminder of the joy of adventure itself.
