Nicolai Bergmann Flowers & Design, founded by Danish floral artist Nicolai Bergmann, presents its Winter Collection 2026, Midnight Mistletoe. The collection will debut at the brand’s flagship store in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, on November 6, followed by a nationwide launch at its stores and official online shop on November 11.

The collection takes its inspiration from mistletoe, a familiar symbol of the European winter and a traditional feature of the Danish holiday season. Midnight blue, reminiscent of the deep winter sky, is paired with gold, evoking the glow of the festive season and bringing out the colors of winter flowers.

Encompassing flower boxes, cubes, wreaths, trees, and bouquets, the collection reflects a sensibility closely associated with Nordic culture: the pleasure of giving flowers, bringing them into the home, and celebrating the changing seasons through everyday rituals.

Mistletoe and the Traditions of Winter Celebration

Mistletoe has long held special significance in European folklore. Because it remains green throughout winter, it has been regarded as a symbol of vitality and is traditionally displayed in homes and doorways during the Christmas season in parts of Europe. The custom of kissing beneath mistletoe is another familiar element of holiday celebrations.

With Midnight Mistletoe, Bergmann interprets these traditions through his distinctive approach to floral design.

One of the collection’s defining elements is its midnight-blue packaging. Adorned with a gold wreath motif, the boxes open to reveal arrangements of red, white, and pale pink flowers accented with gold and silver ornaments.

Vivid red and gold evoke the warmth and festivity of Christmas, while white and softly muted flowers paired with silver suggest the stillness of a snow-covered landscape.

Through these contrasting palettes, the collection presents different interpretations of the same winter celebration.

Lapis Flower Boxes and Flare Flower Cubes: The Art of Displaying Flowers

Among the signature pieces is Lapis, a seasonal interpretation of Bergmann’s iconic flower box.

Combining roses with spherical ornaments, the design comes in two color palettes: festive red and green, and soft panna cotta tones.

Within the confined space of a box, variations in flower height, scale, and color density create a composition reminiscent of a painting. Viewed from above, the flowers form a richly textured surface, set against the deep midnight blue of the box.

Both fresh and preserved flower versions are available, priced from ¥7,150 to ¥49,500. The preserved flower range also includes an extra-small size available exclusively in stores.

The Flare flower cube, meanwhile, emphasizes the sculptural qualities of floral design.

Flowers rise from a square base to form a rounded silhouette, with gold ornaments nestled among the roses. The arrangement reveals different details depending on the viewing angle.

Where the flower box is designed primarily to be viewed from above, the cube can be appreciated from every side. These two distinct forms offer different ways of incorporating flowers into an interior, reflecting the breadth of Bergmann’s approach to floral design. Flare is priced from ¥11,000 to ¥44,000.

Wreaths, Trees, and Bouquets: Flowers for Winter Interiors

The Winter Collection also includes wreaths and trees, both traditional elements of Christmas decoration.

The wreaths combine deep red flowers with gold ornaments, layering floral materials densely to create a richly textured, three-dimensional form. Within the simple circular structure, variations in texture, color, and material produce an intricate composition. Prices range from ¥38,500 to ¥55,000.

The flower trees are particularly striking in two contrasting designs: one dominated by deep red, the other featuring white hydrangeas with gold and silver accents.

Flowers, berries, and ornaments are layered into conical silhouettes, reinterpreting the familiar shape of the Christmas tree as floral art. Their height draws attention to the overall form as well as the rhythm of individual flowers and decorative elements. The flower trees are priced from ¥38,500 to ¥66,000.

The bouquets adopt a softer palette of white and green. Roses and seasonal flowers are accented with silver and gold ornaments, creating arrangements that evoke the crisp, tranquil atmosphere of winter. They are available at ¥33,000 and ¥44,000.

The collection also includes floral arrangements combining roses and ornaments in sculptural compositions, priced from ¥22,000 to ¥99,000.

SEASON OF GLOW: The Pleasure of Creating with Flowers

Alongside the Winter Collection, Nicolai Bergmann Flowers & Design will offer a series of special holiday workshops through its floral school.

Held from November through December on the second floor of the Minami-Aoyama flagship store, SEASON OF GLOW invites participants to create Christmas wreaths, candle arrangements, miniature Christmas trees, and other seasonal floral pieces.

As the season transitions from Christmas to the New Year, the program will also introduce shimenawa, traditional Japanese sacred straw-rope decorations, and New Year floral arrangements.

The workshops bring together Nordic holiday traditions and Japanese customs for welcoming the New Year. Special sessions will include arrangements using plates by Australian design studio Lightly that have not yet been released in Japan, as well as classes led by Nicolai Bergmann himself.

No enrollment fee is required, and participants may register for individual sessions. Beyond selecting finished floral designs, the school offers an opportunity to work directly with flowers and create something personal for the season.

A Taste of the Holidays at NOMU

NOMU, the café adjoining the Minami-Aoyama flagship store, will also introduce a selection of seasonal menu items.

The lineup includes a Holiday Coffee Pound Cake (¥880 for dine-in; ¥864 for takeaway), Hot Chocolate (¥880), and a Roasted Banana & Nut Smoothie (¥1,210), bringing comforting winter flavors to the café.

Another highlight is the NOMU Original Carrot Cake Box Holiday Edition (¥4,860), a seasonal version of the café’s signature carrot cake.

Reservations will be accepted from November 11 through December 15, with pickup scheduled for December 20–28.

From admiring floral arrangements to enjoying seasonal food, Bergmann’s vision of winter extends beyond flowers to the experiences and rituals of everyday life.

Rooted in the mistletoe traditions of Denmark’s holiday season, Midnight Mistletoe celebrates the richness of spending winter surrounded by flowers. The stillness of midnight blue, the shimmer of gold, and the colors of seasonal blooms come together to offer a distinctive interpretation of the 2026 holiday season.
