Renowned for his hyperreal depictions of the human body fused with machine aesthetics, Sorayama has established a singular position in global visual culture. The exhibition brings together key works spanning his career—from early robot illustrations created in 1978 for a whisky advertisement to the original cover artwork of his seminal 1983 publication Sexy Robot, as well as design drawings for Sony’s AIBO and iconic works such as album art for Aerosmith.

The exhibition extends beyond a chronological survey. It includes the “Remastered Series,” in which archival works are reconstructed and reprinted in high resolution before being reworked by the artist’s own hand, alongside recent sculptural works that reinterpret the aesthetics of classical Greek sculpture through a contemporary lens. Immersive installations evoke the cinematic atmosphere of science fiction, offering a multi-layered experience of Sorayama’s universe.

At the core of Sorayama’s practice lies a persistent exploration of light, transparency, and reflection. Metallic surfaces that mirror their surroundings, the illusion of translucency, and the tension between reality and artifice form a visual language that continues to evolve. This exhibition presents these elements at an unprecedented scale, allowing visitors to fully experience the essence of his work.
