Beautiful People, led by designer Kumakiri Hidenori, has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2013 collection. The theme is "Edomae Trad." Further refining their Spring/Summer 2013 pre-collection, "Otoko wa Tsurai yo," they've taken their signature traditional style and given it a chic twist. Items brimming with Edo chic include festival-inspired skinny jeans, belly vests, a dog wearing a bamboo basket (zaru-kaburi), a symbol of good fortune, a T-shirt with a cherry blossom and curtain print, and a glittering foil print of gizzard shad, a popular Edomae sushi ingredient. In addition to iconic designs, the collection also explores the finest materials, including a silk satin blouse that captures the pattern and texture of Imari ware and a trench coat that captures the transparency of tortoiseshell. All looks feature Tora-san's signature geta sandals, reimagined with colorfully dyed snakeskin. A Tora-san look also debuted, accompanied by a familiar song.
