Kyoto University of Art and Design will be holding the "Nishizawa Ryue + nendo: Forest Roofs and Mushrooms" exhibition from October 4th in the entrance lounge on the first floor of the Human Building on campus.

Architect Nishizawa Ryue and nendo, the design office headed by Sato Oki, express the "joy" and "hope" that "beauty" brings. The exhibition by the two companies will not only be held at the entrance but also throughout the university grounds. Tours of the outdoor works will be available by reservation only, starting at 10:00 and 14:00 every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Born in 1966, Nishizawa founded the architectural firm SANAA with Sejima Kazuyo in 1995. In 1997, he opened his own architectural design firm. He has received awards such as the Golden Lion at the 9th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale and the 2010 Pritzker Architecture Prize, and has designed Dior Omotesando, 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Towada Art Center, Teshima Art Museum, Rolex Learning Center, and many other buildings. Sato founded nendo in 2002. In 2007, he was selected as one of Newsweek magazine's "100 Most Respected Japanese People in the World." In 2012, he won the Elle Deco International Design Award. In 2013, he was "Guest of Honor" at the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, where he designed the exhibition space. He has also designed Puma House Tokyo, Camper Osaka, and Theory Aoyama, and his works are included in the collections of major art museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
