A brand’s history is not told through products alone. Architecture, too, serves as a vessel for the values and philosophy it has cultivated over time.

To mark the fifth anniversary of the opening of its Omotesando flagship, Bottega Veneta presents Bottega Veneta Weaving Light, a site-specific installation by Japanese glass artist Ritsue Mishima. Running from July 30 to August 11, 2026 (JST), the exhibition features a selection of works, including the newly created KOMOREBI, inspired by the flagship’s architecture and the natural light that flows through it. Based between Venice and Kyoto, Mishima continues her exploration of glass as a medium that connects light, space, and the surrounding environment.

Where Architecture Meets Light

At the heart of the installation is KOMOREBI, a new work conceived in direct response to the architecture of the Omotesando flagship.

Rather than treating glass as a static material, Mishima has long approached it as a medium through which light and space interact. Her works shift with the changing daylight and weather, continually transforming the atmosphere of the architecture they inhabit.

The Omotesando flagship is distinguished by its geometric façade, inspired by the zelkova trees lining the avenue. In this installation, the artwork, the architecture, and the light entering the space respond to one another, creating a unified spatial experience.

Venice as a Shared Language

The connection between Ritsue Mishima and Bottega Veneta extends beyond years of collaboration.

Both share a profound relationship with Venice—Mishima through her artistic practice and Bottega Veneta through its origins. A deep respect for craftsmanship rooted in the city has become a common language between the artist and the House.

Mishima describes Bottega Veneta’s signature Intrecciato weave as “a spirit of continuous challenge.” That commitment to constantly exploring the possibilities of materials closely resonates with her own pursuit of new forms through glass.

Celebrating Five Years of an Architectural Landmark

Opened in 2021, the 674-square-meter Bottega Veneta Omotesando flagship embodies the traditions of Italian design and Venetian craftsmanship.

Throughout the interior, Palladian flooring is complemented by handcrafted glass shelving and hanging rails created by artisans from Italy’s Nuova Vetreria Resanese. The installation offers visitors an opportunity to rediscover the architectural narrative woven into the space itself.

Experiencing Craftsmanship in the Present

To coincide with the anniversary, the Omotesando flagship will also debut two new bags: the Cabat Mare and the new Baby Campana.

The Cabat Mare combines canvas with the House's signature Intrecciato weaving. The Large size requires approximately 13 hours to produce, including nearly five hours dedicated solely to hand-weaving, reflecting Bottega Veneta's enduring commitment to craftsmanship.

The Baby Campana introduces a more compact interpretation of the House's sculptural silhouette and Intrecciato construction. The Alabaster colorway will debut exclusively at the Omotesando flagship.

During the exhibition, visitors can also enjoy a limited-edition shaved ice dessert created in collaboration with the acclaimed Japanese restaurant Kurogi. Reservations open via Bottega Veneta's official LINE account on July 22, 2026 (JST).

Light, architecture, and craftsmanship are not presented as separate elements here, but woven together into a single spatial experience. That, perhaps, is the world that Bottega Veneta Weaving Light seeks to illuminate.
