As an emergency special event, ARCHI-DEPOT Museum, operated by Warehouse TERRADA Co., Ltd., will be livestreaming "Kengo Kuma and Akihiro Nishizawa Discuss Architecture and Design in the Post-COVID Era - ARCHI-DEPOT x Creative Night" on YouTube from 7 PM on May 14, 2020.

ARCHI-DEPOT Museum is currently temporarily closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but during this period, the museum is focusing on enhancing its online content to convey the appeal of architecture and architectural models to as many people as possible. This time, this collaboration was realized as Eight Branding Design, organizers of "Creative Night," a talk seminar featuring creators from various genres, resonated with ARCHI-DEPOT Museum's initiative to "expand possibilities in the field of architecture." The speakers will be Akihiro Nishizawa, the company's representative and branding designer who advocates architectural thinking, and Kengo Kuma, an architect who stores numerous architectural models at ARCHI-DEPOT ONLINE, a model storage service run by ARCHI-DEPOT. Using keywords such as "architectural thinking in the post-COVID era," "architecture x branding," and "the value of architectural models," these two leading figures will discuss their current thoughts on architecture and design.

About Kengo Kuma] https://kkaa.co.jp Born in 1954. Graduated from the Graduate School of Architecture, University of Tokyo. Established Kengo Kuma and Associates in 1990. Professor at the University of Tokyo from 2009 to March 2020. Since April 2020, Distinguished Professor at the University of Tokyo. Inspired by the Yoyogi National Gymnasium designed by Kenzo Tange that he saw during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, Kuma aspired to become an architect from an early age. At university, he studied under Hiroshi Hara and Yoshiya Uchida, and during graduate school, he crossed the Sahara Desert in Africa to survey settlements, where he became fascinated by their beauty and power. After serving as a visiting researcher at Columbia University, he founded Kengo Kuma & Associates in 1990. He has designed buildings in over 20 countries and has received numerous awards both domestically and internationally (including the Architectural Institute of Japan Award, the International Wood Architecture Award in Finland, and the International Stone Architecture Award in Italy). Aiming for architecture that blends seamlessly with the local environment and culture, he proposes gentle, soft designs on a human scale. Furthermore, through his exploration of new materials to replace concrete and steel, he pursues the future of architecture in a post-industrial society.
