Supermodel Gisele Bündchen has been selected as the muse for Chanel's new fragrance campaign, "No. 5." The new video advertisement will be released on October 15th. The full version will be available on the Chanel website, YouTube, and Facebook starting at 1:00 PM Japan time.
The ad was directed by Baz Luhrmann, whose work includes "The Great Gatsby" starring Leonardo DiCaprio. He also directed the ad for Nicole Kidman, who starred in his 2001 film "Moulin Rouge!" when she modeled for "No. 5" in 2004.
The ad was shot in Hampton, New York. Chanel commented on the reason for casting Gisele, saying, "She combines natural beauty with modern femininity."
The surf scene she wore was specially designed by Karl Lagerfeld. The style, which combines a black and white neoprene bikini with a wetsuit in the same color scheme, further highlights Gisele's "natural yet modern strength and beauty." The Chanel surfboard she is holding under her arm is also a highlight.
The same video advertisement will also be aired as a TV commercial film from November 28th to December 14th.
