The HIROKO KOSHINO Spring/Summer 2014 collection was unveiled at Ebisu The Garden Hall. Designer Hiroko Koshino's theme was "A Tale of Light and Shadow." The show kicked off with a flowing dress constructed with a flat, kimono-like pattern, featuring a cityscape of colorful buildings in red, blue, and yellow as its main motif. Tights also featured a window print, paired with colorful ankle-strap sandals. The gray base was complemented by orange and electric blue, and the textures of satin and lamé added a futuristic touch. The middle part of the show featured pure white cotton dresses and one-piece dresses. The hems featured rectangular cutwork reminiscent of windows, and multiple layers of ruffles and drapes created three-dimensional shapes. The cool-looking black jackets and dresses were accented with white panels and jeweled brooches, evoking elegance and femininity. The final piece was a dress made from shiny fabric in deep blue, brown, and khaki. The form was created by folding the fabric like origami, and the large ribbon added to it gave it a girlish feel. The collection ended with a look that could be said to be symbolic of this season, combining contrasting colors that express light and shadow.
