View works while listening to expert commentary, and take part in an "Introduction to Keith Haring" course

Oct 6, 2015

CORNER, an art and design school for adults, will launch a new course, "Introduction to Keith Haring," on October 17th, where students can learn about street art pioneer Keith Haring.

CORNER, which opened on August 25th, is a school that offers lectures, tours, workshops, and more, based on the concept of "a school for adults seeking creative ideas." Lectures will be given by instructors active in the fields of art and design, including artists, curators, designers, editors, and craftsmen.

The subject of the newly launched "Introduction to Keith Haring" course will be Keith Haring's works, which are printed on a variety of items such as T-shirts, postcards, and cell phone cases. The course will be taught by Sakurabayashi Emiri, who served as chief curator at the Nakamura Keith Haring Collection in Kobuchizawa, Yamanashi Prefecture from 2007 to July 2015. By learning about Keith Haring's works and life, participants will learn how to engage with his works more deeply and experience the fascinating aspects of his work.

The course consists of five sessions, with sessions 1 through 4 learning about the meaning of Keith Haring's works and his way of life, and session 5 taking a tour of the Nakamura Keith Haring Collection to view his actual works.
