sacai Spring/Summer 2027 Men’s Collection — THE NEW CLASSICS: Deconstructing the Classic to Set It in Motion Again

Jul 14, 2026
sacai has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2027 men’s collection, THE NEW CLASSICS.

As the title suggests, this season is concerned with a new understanding of the classic. Yet what sacai proposes goes far beyond a simple aesthetic update of familiar wardrobe staples. By purposefully colliding the rigid codes of traditional tailoring with the liberated energy of contemporary culture, the collection attempts to reactivate the very idea of classicism.

At the heart of the season is the philosophy of liberating form from stasis.

It is an idea shared with the Women’s Spring 2027 collection presented in the same season, and one that runs through sacai’s broader exploration of clothing for Spring/Summer 2027.

Not Updating the Classics, but Setting Them in Motion

sacai has long established its distinctive language through hybridization—the fusion of elements that conventionally belong to different garments, functions, and cultural contexts. This season, that approach is directed more explicitly toward the idea of the classic itself.

The collection notes describe an intentional collision between the strict, historically conservative codes of traditional tailoring and the vibrant, non-conservative energies of contemporary culture. Preppy establishment style meets industrial subversion, breathing dynamic movement into otherwise static wardrobe staples.

What emerges is neither nostalgia nor rejection, but reinterpretation.

The question sacai appears to be asking is not how classics should be preserved, but how they can remain alive.

Deconstructing Brooks Brothers and creating new forms

The blazer becomes one of the clearest expressions of the season’s philosophy.

While paying homage to the traditional heritage of Brooks Brothers tailoring, its familiar structure is boldly reconfigured through sacai’s signature hybridization.

Liberated, free-flowing ties. Functional chin ties. Unexpected necklines.

These elements are not simply decorative interventions. They destabilize forms that once appeared fixed, freeing classic garments from their historical constraints and allowing them to become active, fluid contemporary statements.

Here, the classic garment is no longer treated as a completed form. It is redefined as a structure capable of continual transformation.

The positive energy brought by Soul II Soul

The collection also incorporates a collaboration with Soul II Soul, the legendary London sound system and music collective.

“A happy face, a thampin’ bass, for a loving race.”

sacai found a shared philosophy in the positivity, inclusivity, and pursuit of happiness and love that Soul II Soul has communicated to audiences around the world for more than four decades.

The collection features archive images from the collective’s celebrated Sunday-night sessions at The Africa Centre in London’s Covent Garden. These gatherings became a weekly destination for people of diverse backgrounds and races, united by a shared love of music.

T-shirts and sweats bear the iconic Funki Dred emblem alongside titles and phrases such as Back to Life and Keep on Moving.

Traditional tailoring and street culture may appear to belong to different worlds. Bringing them into the same wardrobe, however, is central to sacai’s approach this season.

Completing THE NEW CLASSICS With BIRKENSTOCK

The collaboration with BIRKENSTOCK further crystallizes the collection’s central idea.

With a history dating back to 1774, BIRKENSTOCK represents function, quality, and enduring tradition. Respecting that heritage, sacai fuses two of the brand’s most iconic styles into a singular, multidimensional silhouette.

A coordinating utility bag is lined with the same taupe and black suede used for the sandals, while its exterior base incorporates BIRKENSTOCK’s recognizable bone-pattern outsole.

The New Classic Always Returns to Everyday Life

The collection ultimately invites a reconsideration of what the word “classic” means.

Brooks Brothers. Soul II Soul. BIRKENSTOCK.

Each belongs to a different history and cultural context, yet all have endured long enough to become classics in their own right.

sacai does not seek to preserve them unchanged. Instead, it deconstructs, connects, and reconstructs them, bringing their histories back into the present.

As the collection notes state, THE NEW CLASSICS embraces radical structural subversion and a bold, experimental design language, yet ultimately returns to the universal realities of everyday life, illuminated by a ray of sunlight.

What sacai presented for Spring/Summer 2027 was not a collection created to destroy the classics.

It was a reactivation designed to carry them into the future.
