Designer Viviano Sue presented VIVIANO’s Autumn/Winter 2026 collection, “Portrait of Her, Unnamed,” at Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO.

The show took place at Immanuel Chapel within Yodobashi Church in Okubo, where the space was enveloped in deep red lighting. The architectural shadows cast across the ceiling, combined with the solemnity of the chapel, created an atmosphere that blurred the boundary between reality and illusion. The runway extended forward like a passage into the interior self, with models moving quietly through the space.

At the core of the collection lies a question about naming. We give names to everything—to classify, to understand. Yet a name can sometimes define an outline too quickly.

Rather than portraying someone already defined, the collection traces the presence of a figure who does not yet know who she is or where she is going. Guided by impulse, she dresses and begins to walk.

The garments embody this state of indeterminacy. Flowing pink satin drapes around the body without fixing its form, while oversized fur coats obscure the silhouette. Layers of lace, embroidery, and tulle dissolve the boundary between structure and ornament, creating a sense of fluid construction.

Headpieces that partially conceal the face further suspend the notion of identity. What emerges is not a completed image, but a continuous process—one that resists closure.

The brand’s concept, “Chaos in shimmer through the veil of order,” takes on a tangible presence here. Beneath controlled structures, undefined emotions and impulses subtly surface, lending the garments a quiet depth.

The choice of a church as the venue reinforces this narrative. In a space associated with reflection and belief, what is presented is not certainty, but a figure in fluctuation. She exists not in clarity, but in a state of becoming.

This is not hesitation. It is the act of continuing to exist without closing off possibility.
With this collection, VIVIANO offers a perspective that embraces the state before becoming someone. Within that ambiguity, a new outline of contemporary beauty begins to emerge.
