3.1 Phillip Lim, a label by Phillip Lim, presented its Spring/Summer 2017 men's collection in the form of an exhibition at the Nikki Dianna Marquardt gallery in the Marais district.
The collection demonstrated a bold departure from the simplistic normcore trend seen in the Fall/Winter 2016-17 collection, showcasing a spirit of constant challenge. While embracing opposing keywords like sophistication and ambition, relaxed and adventurous, the collection was structured to encourage wearers to discover their own layered style, exploring how each piece could be luxuriously crafted.
This season, the collection injects Phillip Lim's signature bad boy aesthetic into streetwear, while also evoking a 1950s vibe with ankle-length pants. Jackets feature flowing silhouettes with dropped shoulders. The contrast between a floral-print judo-style jacket and bolder pieces like leopard-print free-size pants and blousons creates a comfortable atmosphere. The collection was a reflection of Phillip Lim's desire to simply enjoy fashion.
