Magnolia Bakery launches 2nd anniversary cake in Japan! 2-day weekend event with icing experience available on a first-come, first-served basis

Jun 17, 2016

To celebrate the second anniversary of its launch in Japan, Magnolia Bakery, a New York-based specialty store specializing in classic American desserts, will be releasing new products, the "Confetti Cake" and "Confetti Cupcake," on June 17th. Confetti are small, colorful sugar confections baked into the batter and then generously coated in the cream topping. Customers can also write their own message on the top of the cake in cream. Icing, used to write messages or add decorations to cakes, is one of Magnolia Bakery's signature features, and customers can watch skilled staff apply the icing at the in-store icing station. To celebrate the second anniversary of their launch in Japan, a "2nd Anniversary Icing Demonstration/Experience Event" will be held on June 18th and 19th. This event is open to customers who purchase products at the Magnolia Bakery Omotesando store on the day, on a first-come, first-served basis. A lesson on how to apply icing using a board will be given. A hands-on event was also held at the press conference held on June 16th. When we actually tried it, we found that the icing cream was a little harder than when piping regular fresh cream, making it quite difficult to draw letters. Even adults could enjoy trying out the technique of using the piping tool to create letters and decorative flowers and leaves.

The "2nd Anniversary Icing Demonstration/Hands-On Event" is scheduled to start at 10:00, 11:00, 14:00 and 16:00 each day, and will last one hour. Each session is limited to 10 groups, or 20 people.
