To celebrate the Japanese release of photographer Thomas Whiteside's self-published photo book, "ROUTE 1, MIKE AND INDIA," a photo exhibition titled "Thomas Whiteside Photo Exhibition: ROUTE 1, MIKE AND INDIA" will be held from April 14th to 23rd at the basement gallery of BOOKMARC in Harajuku, Tokyo.
Based in New York, USA, Thomas Whiteside works as an editorial and portrait photographer, primarily for magazines such as Vogue, W, Interview, and Bazaar. He has previously photographed people active in a wide range of fields, including politicians, artists, and actors. The book is a photo diary of model Michael Bailey-Gates and actress India Salvor Menuez, photographed in 2015 in a camper van along Route 1, which encircles Iceland, with icebergs, lakes, and active volcanoes as a backdrop. It also includes a text by artist Chloe Wise, a poem by India, and excerpts from Michael Bailey-Gates' sketchbook. A champagne reception and autograph session featuring the two subjects will be held on April 14, the opening day of the exhibition, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
