Hermès will release a new scarf, the Maxi Twilly "Cério Ludère" (39,000 yen), designed by Japan-based French artist Nicolas Buffe, exclusively in Japan.

The design fuses Buffe's signature baroque style with subculture. It measures 20 x 220 cm and comes in four colors, including red and black. It is currently on sale at the Hermès official online boutique. It will be available at the Ginza store from May 3rd.

Buffe was born in Paris in 1978. Since childhood, he has loved Japanese anime, video games, and special effects shows like "Space Sheriff Gavan," and studied Japanese language and culture. After graduating from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he came to Japan in 2007 and earned a doctorate from Tokyo University of the Arts. He creates works that fuse traditional European culture, such as the Renaissance and Baroque, with subculture, and in 2010 he was in charge of the window display "Little Red Riding Hood's Girl" at Ginza Maison Hermès. He is currently holding a solo exhibition, "Nicolas Buffe: Polifilo's Dream," at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Shinagawa, Tokyo, until June 29th.
