The concept store for "canalize," a new project by the Self Creative team and Takisada Osaka, opened on August 26th. The project is an online concept store based on Japanese aesthetics. Based on the theme of "the way of making," the store aims to convey the attitudes of creators and local culture, and to provide discoveries and experiences for the future of life. A pre-opening website, launched in March ahead of the opening, featured interviews with prominent figures from various fields, including Hirofumi Kurino, Makoto Tanijiri, and Lambda Takahashi, conveying a glimpse of the future. The newly opened concept store is set in a renovated former factory, with one basement floor and three aboveground floors. The basement features a dining area, the first floor a gallery with a cafe and bar, and a pop-up space, the second floor a boutique and bookstore, and the third floor a secret space. The interior is designed to resemble a high-quality gallery, creating a tranquil atmosphere reminiscent of a multi-purpose cultural facility. In the future, each floor setting, such as a gallery or restaurant within the fictionally designed store, will be linked to real galleries and restaurants around the world to hold actual events.
The concept store's illustrations were also created by Fukuoka-based illustrator Kuroki Hitoshi, who has worked on the covers of GIZNA magazine, among other things. The image visuals were photographed by Mizutani Taro, with styling by Takahashi Lambda and Kawakami Kaoru, and featured 11 models on the theme of "diversity."
