CFCL and SHISEIDO Turn Makeup Colors Into Knitwear Through “Personal Edition Signature”

May 8, 2026
Fashion and makeup have long evolved alongside one another. But the latest project between CFCL and SHISEIDO goes beyond simply sharing a color palette.

CFCL will introduce a limited-edition color palette created in collaboration with SHISEIDO as part of its customizable order service, “Personal Edition Signature,” available from May 6 through July 31, 2026. The collaboration grew out of SHISEIDO’s ongoing involvement in CFCL’s runway shows and visual productions, where the beauty brand has continuously overseen hair and makeup direction.

Wearing Makeup Colors

The palette developed for this collaboration is based on the nine shades of the “SHISEIDO Color + Glow Enhancer,” which has also been used backstage for CFCL runway makeup looks.

By translating cosmetic tones directly into knitwear, the project expands the language of makeup into clothing itself.

Pink, rose, beige, and lavender tones—colors designed with skin tone and light reflection in mind—carry a nuance different from conventional fashion palettes. They feel less like “colors for clothing” and closer to colors that exist near the skin itself.

CFCL’s Vision of “Clothing For Contemporary Life”

CFCL takes its name from “Clothing For Contemporary Life.” Built around 3D computer knitting technology, the brand continues to explore timeless design, functionality, environmental consciousness, and supply chain transparency.

The latest “Personal Edition Signature” project extends that philosophy further. The act of freely selecting graphical color combinations and ordering a garment aligned with one’s own sensibility offers an alternative to conventional fashion consumption centered around mass-produced clothing.

Between Fashion and Beauty

Collaborations between fashion and beauty brands have become increasingly common in recent years. Yet many remain limited to packaging or campaign visuals.

What makes this project compelling is the way it translates the color language of makeup directly into knit structures. In particular, the sculptural silhouettes of CFCL’s signature “POTTERY” series intensify the gradients and boundaries between colors.

Rather than simply dressing the body, the garments evoke the sensation of wearing light and color themselves. In that sense, the collaboration reflects a shared attempt by both brands to explore contemporary ideas of the body while moving fluidly between fashion and beauty.

A Personal Approach That Extends to Kidswear

The lineup includes 11 women’s styles from the POTTERY series—including dresses, tops, and skirts—alongside three kidswear designs. Select dresses and skirts will also be available in sizes not normally offered as standard products.

True to the name “Personal Edition,” the project feels less like customization for its own sake and more like an effort to move closer to individual bodies and personal sensibilities.
