Prada’s Fall/Winter 2026 menswear collection, BEFORE AND NEXT, is conceived not as a confrontation between past and future, but as an exploration of what exists between them.
Under the direction of Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, the collection approaches history as something to be acknowledged, examined, and carried forward—rather than erased.

Structure is central throughout the collection. Elongated silhouettes and precise tailoring establish a sense of visual order, drawing attention to posture and presence as much as to clothing itself. In a moment defined by instability, these garments offer a form of composure—suggesting that structure, rather than excess, can provide reassurance.

Beneath this restraint, complexity quietly unfolds. Clean, controlled outer forms conceal layered references within—details, prints, and constructions that draw from different eras and cultural memories. These elements are not decorative, but conceptual: a way of embedding time, knowledge, and experience into the garment itself.

Printed motifs operate as visual intersections, bringing together imagery from antiquity, the Renaissance, and the contemporary moment. Rather than nostalgia, the emphasis lies in recontextualization—how fragments of the past are repositioned within present-day clothing, forming new relationships and meanings.

The show space at Fondazione Prada reinforced this thinking. Objects and architectural traces from different periods surrounded the runway, creating a sense of time as something non-linear—revealed, layered, and in motion. What was once concealed becomes visible, echoing the collection’s broader inquiry into continuity and transformation.

BEFORE AND NEXT is neither an act of preservation nor a declaration of certainty about the future. Instead, it presents fashion as a process—one that reflects on what has come before in order to move forward with intention. This season, Prada articulates that progression not through poetry, but through structure.
