Designer Maiko Kurokawa's mame 2013-2014 autumn/winter collection.
The inspiration came from old photographs that Kurokawa found in a shop in Kanazawa. The collection was based on the concept of creating a story for each person in each photograph and giving them clothes as a gift from Mame.
For a woman waiting for her lover at the beach, she would choose a dress with drapes and slits that flatter her silhouette. For a boy she has a crush on, she would choose a sweatshirt that will keep her warm.
The refreshing color palette is centered around white, black, and light blue. The dresses have deep V-necks and mini-lengths. The knitwear is finished in soft tones with a relaxed silhouette. The lineup also includes mannish wide-leg pants and mod coats with voluminous fur at the collar. The materials used include wool from Oshu, hand-woven fabrics made on old looms, and embroidery reminiscent of old obi belts made in a factory in Kiryu, all made using the techniques of artisans that designer Kurokawa himself discovered while traveling around Japan. The popular PVC bag is now available in pink.
