Fashion and jewelry designer Paloma Picasso was born on April 19, 1949. Her father is the artist Pablo Picasso and her mother is the painter Françoise Gilot.

She began designing jewelry and costumes in the 1960s. She also worked for Yves Saint-Laurent.

In 1980, Paloma's jewelry designs debuted with Tiffany & Co., a collaboration that has continued for over 30 years.
