Jean Paul Gaultier presented the Spring/Summer 2014 collection for his haute couture line, Gaultier Paris. This season's collection was inspired by butterflies. The silhouette of a butterfly was evoked in jackets, blouses, and dresses, each draped over the shoulders and upper arms, creating a sense of volume. X-shaped silhouettes were often featured. The motif was incorporated in a variety of ways, running throughout the collection, from jacket lapels to clutch bag decorations, weaving, embroidery, masks, and hair. Dresses were also shown featuring the shape of a butterfly on both the top and bottom. Light, fluttering fabrics were frequently used, evoking the illusion of a butterfly in flight. Geometric motifs, seemingly inspired by the veining of a butterfly's wings, were also incorporated. Burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese appeared midway through the show, performing a seductive walk.
