Burlesque dancer Dita von Teese was born on September 28, 1972, in Michigan, USA. She began ballet training at age five, and as a teenager, she worked part-time at a lingerie shop while also working as a nude model. At age 19, she became a strip dancer and appeared as a fetish model in lingerie and adult goods catalogs. After being featured in three issues of Playboy magazine starting in 1999, Dita's name became known throughout the United States. Since 2005, she has worked as an advertising model for AIDS charities while also working as a character icon. In 2007, she was selected as a catalog model for lingerie manufacturer PEACH JOHN, and her photographs, photographed by Mika Ninagawa, left a strong impression on Japanese audiences. Furthermore, as a strip dancer, she developed her own unique style inspired by 1940s movies and musicals. She is highly acclaimed as a dancer-model who revived "burlesque," a strip show that incorporates skits, and has appeared in shows for high-end brands such as "Jean Paul GAULTIER" and "Christian Louboutin."

In 2011, she produced her own fragrance brand, "Dita von Teese," and also founded the lingerie brand "VON FOLLIES BY DITA VON TEESE," which offers items themed around 1950s glamour girls, such as bras, shorts, garter belts, and corsets.

In her personal life, she married rock singer Marilyn Manson in 2005, but divorced the following year.
