The Nara-born specialty coffee shop ROKUMEI COFFEE has opened its second Tokyo location, ROKUMEI COFFEE Shibuya Scramble Square, on March 5, 2026. Located on the second floor of Shibuya Scramble Square, just steps from the Shibuya Stream-side entrance, the shop features a bright glass-front space that naturally connects with the flow of the city outside.

Founded in Nara in 1974, ROKUMEI COFFEE is a specialty coffee roaster built around the mission of “spreading circles of happiness.” Its founder and head roaster Koji Ida won the Japan Coffee Roasting Championship (JCRC), a national competition that recognizes excellence in roasting technique. The brand is known for sourcing high-quality beans from around the world and roasting them in-house to highlight their natural aroma and flavor.

To mark the opening, the new shop introduces the Shibuya Scramble Square Blend, an exclusive coffee created to reflect the energy of Shibuya. The blend combines beans from Colombia, Ethiopia, and Costa Rica, roasted from light to medium-light. The result is a cup with bright fruit notes reminiscent of white peach and lychee, layered sweetness like nectar, and a clean finish. Like the constantly evolving landscape of Shibuya itself, the composition of the blend will be updated seasonally.

The café also serves baked goods delivered from ROKUMEI BAKES, the brand’s bakery café in Nara. Among them is the Black Soybean and Hojicha Pound Cake, which features hojicha cream subtly enriched with miso, highlighting the gentle sweetness of black soybeans—an example of how Japanese ingredients are woven into the coffee experience.

A retail corner offers drip bags, café bases, and other coffee products, making it easy to pick up beans for home brewing or small gifts. The selection reflects the brand’s aim to bring specialty coffee into everyday life.

Just a short walk from the iconic Shibuya Scramble Crossing, this new café sits at the intersection of urban speed and a single cup of coffee. In the constant flow of the city, it becomes a place where visitors might pause for a moment—and discover a small margin of quiet within the rhythm of Shibuya.
