Riccardo Tisci has launched the new Burberry. While inheriting a tradition spanning more than 160 years, what is the driving force behind its ongoing innovation?
Founded in London by Thomas Burberry in 1856, Burberry is a British luxury brand beloved around the world.
Since its founding, Thomas Burberry has pursued functionality and comfort, developing gabardine, a revolutionary new material with exceptional water-repellent and breathable properties. It was adopted by polar explorers, pilots, and British officers, and is known for revolutionizing traditional outerwear. The pioneering spirit of the founder has been passed down through the generations as the brand's DNA, and it continues to grow today as one of Britain's leading brands with unparalleled innovation and outstanding craftsmanship.

Riccardo Tisci, who was appointed Chief Creative Officer in March 2018, succeeding his predecessor Christopher Bailey, who led Burberry for 17 years, has revamped the brand's logo and monogram for the first time in nearly 20 years. He has demonstrated his pioneering spirit since taking office, collaborating with Vivienne Westwood and presenting "B Classic," a collection of looks curated from the Spring/Summer 2018 pre-collection.
In preparing his debut collection, Riccardo Tisci thoroughly researched the brand's extensive archives. Burberry's iconic trench coats and car coats were reinterpreted in a modern way, with beige, the brand's signature color, appearing in a variety of looks. The sensual and elegant style is in keeping with Riccardo Tisci's aesthetic.
