Yusuke Iseya launches All Japan Uniform Committee. Itochu and DELUXE create ethical uniforms.

Jan 26, 2014

REBIRTH PROJECT, headed by actor Yusuke Iseya, has launched the All-Japan Uniform Committee to introduce a system for producing Japanese uniforms from environmentally friendly "ethical materials" and for recycling them.

The committee has hired HUE, designer of the men's streetwear brand "DELUXE," and is collaborating with Itochu Corporation to produce uniforms made from ethical materials with the cooperation of textile manufacturers. As the first step, the committee will revamp the uniforms at Itochu Enex gas stations. Two styles, "SPORTY" and "CLASSIC," will be designed in four colors. A public vote will be held on the All-Japan Uniform Committee's website from January 31st, with the results determining the new model. The new uniforms are scheduled to be gradually introduced this fall.

The All-Japan Uniform Committee will work with participating companies to create stylish, recyclable uniforms, thereby increasing employee motivation and supporting corporate CSR activities. The project aims to produce stylish uniforms using recycled materials such as recycled polyester and natural materials like organic cotton, with the goal of making 10 million uniforms ethical by the time of the Tokyo Olympics.

The Reverse Project was founded in 2009 by Iseya, bringing together artists, creators, and producers. Guided by the question, "What must humanity do to survive?", the project reexamines the impact humanity has had on the environment and society to date, and works to create new business models for life in the future. Ultimately, the project aims to integrate and organize projects related to food, clothing, shelter, education, and the arts, forming a village called "Reverse Village," which can then be expanded around the world.
