LOEWE's 2013-14 Autumn/Winter collection, presented at Paris Fashion Week, has been under the direction of creative director Stuart Vevers since 2008. The collection was held at the National Museum of Natural History, with a long corridor covered in pitch-black walls.
The city of Bilbao, located on Spain's northern coast, was the inspiration. The checkered patterns on the sheepskin coats and the geometric patterns of the leather patchwork were inspired by the city's historic architecture, further enhancing the graphic effect with vibrant colors reminiscent of Spanish paintings. The refreshing white and blue prints were inspired by tiles painted by Catalan painter Mariano Fortuny.
The curved shoulders and cinched waists created a structured silhouette. Sportswear elements were also incorporated into the designs, such as boxy parkas and biker-style jumpsuits.
The supple nappa leather was given a variety of looks, with a grid-like embossing and a wrinkled shearing effect. The sheepskin jackets and coats, as well as the white and red fur coats, were voluminous and added excitement to the finale of the collection.
The new "Amaya" bag was also unveiled. Made from smooth calf, the highlight is the hand-sewn chain.
